Steel changes the heat flow
Steel conducts heat much more readily than insulation. Studs, fixings and junctions must be included in the assessment; insulation thickness alone does not establish wall performance.
Continuous external insulation
Insulation outside the frame reduces repeating thermal bridges. Bases, reveals, floor edges, parapets, eaves and balcony connections need careful detailing, including cladding supports passing through insulation.
What to request
Ask for complete assembly specifications and junction checks. U-values, condensation risk and summer comfort need assessment. Orientation, shading, glazing and ventilation also affect real comfort and energy use.
